Derechos humanos, memoria histórica y cine: una mirada desde la película “En el nombre del padre”

Abstract

La historia de los condenados, de las víctimas de un sistema político que persigue “enemigos” reales o imaginarios, es una historia siempre en construcción. Este artículo es un esfuerzo por reflexionar en torno a la violación de los derechos humanos de los cuatro de Guildford y los siete de Maguire, acusados injustamente como terroristas por el sistema judicial británico y cuya representación cinematográfica fue magistralmente expuesta en la película “En el nombre del Padre”. En consecuencia, el cine como arte y posibilidad de denuncia, se convierte en el pretexto ideal para repensar esta historia desde la memoria histórica, el derecho a la verdad y la importancia de los archivos como custodios de la información sustantiva de las naciones, al servicio de la justicia, la transparencia y el pluralismo. 

ABSTRACT

It is always under construction the story of the damned of the victims in a political system that pursues real or imaginary “enemies”. This article is an effort to reflect about human rights violation, four of Guildford and seven of Maguire. They were unfairly charged as terrorists by British judicial system. And it was masterfully represented by the film “In the Name of the Father”. In consequence, the cinema as art and complaint possibility, it becomes in the ideal pretext to rethink this story from historical memory, the right to the truth, and the importance of archives as custodians of nations substantive information, to the service of justice, transparency, and pluralism.
